CTV’s THE AMAZING RACE CANADA is the country’s newest blockbuster hit TV series. Following an unprecedented promotion and publicity campaign, the much-anticipated series premiere smashed records last night with an amazing audience of 3 million viewers on CTV. It was the highest-rated series premiere of a Canadian series ever, and the most-watched series debut overall in nearly a decade, since CSI: NY premiere to 3.2 viewers in 2004. The premiere of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA becomes the most-watched Canadian entertainment program since the CORNER GAS finale drew 3 million viewers in April 2009. Overall, five million unique viewers watched the premiere, with the audience growing throughout the broadcast to peak at 3.5 million viewers when host Jon Montgomery revealed that Treena and Tennille had been eliminated from the first leg of the race. The introductions are over, it’s time to race! CTV announced today the final pairing of competitors for the first-ever season of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, this summer’s most-anticipated television series. Hosted by Olympic Champion Jon Montgomery (@jrmonty12), the final teams announced to embark in the riveting, all-Canadian race around the country are actress Vanessa Morgan (MY BABYSITTER’S A VAMPIRE, DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION) and her bikini-model sister Celina, a pair of feisty siblings from Ottawa, ON. Joining them are Tim Senior, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease three years ago and his son Tim Junior from Winnipeg, MB. The two teams round out the cast of nine pairings in the race for the historic half-a-million dollar grand prize. CTV cleared two more teams today for takeoff for THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, the hottest competition series of the summer. Hosted by Olympic Champion Jon Montgomery (@jrmonty12), the next three teams announced to embark on the exhilarating race across Canada are Jamie and Pierre, a pair of gay cowboys from Alberta; Treena and Tennille, fiercely competitive and often incongruent twin sisters from Hamilton, ON; and Jet and Dave, sporty, confident, and light-hearted best friends from London, ON. They join previously announced teams dating couple, Kristen and Darren, and brothers Jody and Cory, in the hunt for the historic half-a-million dollar grand prize. Two more teams will be announced tomorrow (June 26), with the final two pairings to be revealed on Thursday (June 27).
