Alcide Desveaux Wins Savoury Pie Challenge in Third Episode of CBC’s RECIPE TO RICHES

RECIPE TO RICHES aired its third episode this evening, with three home cooks battling it out over their signature savoury pie recipes. Alcide Desveaux of Welland, Ontario impressed the judges with his Grandpa’s Acadian Meat Pie, beating out Don Chow’s Great Blasphemy Tourtiere and Sheena Thomas’ Enchilada Pie. As well, starting this weekend, Canadians can purchase President’s Choice® Grandpa’s Meat Pie at select Loblaw banner stores across the country.

Alcide stuck to his “old school” cooking methods to create the flavourful, traditional Grandpa’s Acadian Meat Pie. Made with moist and tender shredded pork and seasoned chicken, along with a touch of onion, all in a tender crust, the savoury dish is his take on the classic Acadian meat pie from the 18th century that was traditionally made with wild meat. Alcide’s victory tonight earned him $25,000 and a spot in the live series finale on Wednesday, April 2 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) on CBC-TV for a chance to win $250,000.
